Community Service Volunteers

Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Indiana welcomes volunteers who are required by a court to do community service in both the ReStore and on the construction site. Court-ordered volunteers must get approval prior to registering for our volunteer opportunities, or we will not be able to provide documentation of hours completed.

Please read our full Court-Ordered Community Service Policy and Guidelines here:

When you have reviewed the policy and guidelines, complete the Community Service Screening Form by clicking the button below. Please allow up to 5 business days for approval.

Company Team Building

Looking for a team-building experience that’s meaningful, affordable, and local? Host your next company team build on a Habitat for Humanity construction site and give your team the opportunity to work together toward a shared purpose. Instead of investing in a traditional, for-profit team-building event, your company can make a direct impact in the community—combining hands-on volunteer labor with financial support to help families build safe, affordable homes. It’s team building that strengthens your organization while creating lasting change close to home. Please complete the Group Volunteer Form and a staff member will be in contact with you to answer your questions and discuss next steps!

Core Construction Crew

Habitat's Core Crew is a crew of volunteers dedicated to helping Habitat Southeast achieve its mission by consistently contributing time and skill. No experience is required, and each member is orientated to become an advocate and knowledgeable representative of Habitat Southeast. All volunteers are required to follow our volunteer build site guidelines. To learn more, fill out the Core Crew Interest Form, and our volunteer coordinator will be in touch with you!

Faith Builds

Since Habitat’s beginning in 1976, we have been built on a foundation of faith. Our mission is to build safe, affordable housing for people in the United States and around the world, and that comes from a desire to put God’s love into action.

We are God’s hands and feet, here to serve others and show them His love. The tangible experiences that Habitat provides allow you to engage those around you, live your faith and offer a unique opportunity to love your neighbor. You’ll also have the opportunity to work alongside future Habitat homeowners.

No experience is necessary to volunteer, and all faith groups are welcome. We will teach you everything you need to know on the build site, and there are a variety of tasks both indoors and outdoors to participate in that require all levels of skill and ability. We also can offer tailored experiences to fit your group such as a focus for students, singles or small groups.

Volunteering together provides a way for your faith group to have fun together while pursuing a common goal. You will be strengthening your community and empowering Habitat homeowners to build a better future for themselves. Your service will also deepen your ties to the neighborhoods around you and provide stability for the city you all share.

Whether your church or faith group travels 10 or 10,000 miles, we are certain that a difference will be made both in the lives of those you help as well as yourself. Click here to organize a faith build!

Team Builds

Thank you for your interest in company volunteering. Many businesses are now seeing the short- and long-term benefits of bringing employees outside the walls of the office, and into the volunteer space. Whether this is your first company volunteer event, or you’re seasoned pros, Habitat provides a fun, easy and engaging experience. We’re in the business of building safe, affordable housing, and would love to work with you.

Research has shown that employees prefer to work for companies invested in charitable causes, and volunteering is a terrific way to facilitate that need at a relatively low cost to you. It is especially important to the Millennial generation, born approximately 1980-2000, which is the second-largest outside of the Baby Boomers and is now entering the workforce in droves.

Benefits to company volunteering with Habitat for Humanity
  • Learn about your employees on a more personal level.

  • Break down the hierarchy walls of traditional corporate structure.

  • Assist in projects that provide a better future for other individuals.

  • Provide a deeper connection to the area around you.

  • Create a more stable environment for those in need.

  • Share an experience that you can take back to the office.
